Profile/CV

As a motion picture editor and videographer, Ed DeArmitt brings a unique fusion of technical expertise and creative vision to Apple Box Studios, where he oversees the full production cycle for a wide range of video products. At Apple Box, he serves clients as a video editor and motion graphics artist, specifically working on projects for Omnicell, Ansys, Core Natural Resources (formerly CONSOL Energy) and Guttman Energy. As a videographer, Ed also directs and shoots a variety of projects on behalf of Apple Box clients.

With a deep-rooted curiosity about how the creative process works, Ed developed an early passion for performance art, production design and ultimately, video storytelling. Ed’s multidisciplinary background and passion for innovation make him a dynamic and indispensable contributor to the Apple Box creative team. He thrives on collaboration, enjoys traveling for on-location shoots and values the opportunity to work with a talented team and diverse roster of clients.

Ed began his creative journey by assisting with stage setups for live entertainment events, where he gained first-hand experience with behind-the-scenes production. He then pursued formal training in film and video production, building a comprehensive skill set that spans scriptwriting and lighting design, sound, cinematography and editing. His work includes a wide variety of genres from short films and advertisements to interviews, concerts and multi-camera live streams.

Before joining Apple Box Studios, Ed was the head producer and cinematographer for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, where he was instrumental in creating hundreds of videos promoting orchestra performances, Heinz Hall programming and individual musicians. His work also extends to photography with images published in outlets including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Pittsburgh Business Times. While at Heinz Hall, Ed led the installation of a multi-camera streaming system and played a key role in live streaming performances.

When Ed isn’t focused on production work for Apple Box Studios, he often exercises his personal curiosity and drive to innovate. A lifelong learner, he spends his free time exploring video and film tutorials, experimenting with new techniques and staying current with the latest technology. Ed also engages with video games as both a source of entertainment and inspiration, and finds fresh perspective through travel and new experiences.
