As a soon to be senior at Penn State University, I knew finding an internship that would help me grow professionally, and give me first hand experience in the communications and marketing fields was imperative. After interning at Apple Box Studios for the past three months, I can confidently say that I have gained just that and more. I must admit, when I first began working at Apple Box, I was slightly intimidated by the fast paced agency life. However, when I was warmly welcomed and greeted by the entire company, I felt more than comfortable jumping  into all of the different projects and assignments thrown my way.

As a public relations major and business minor, I’ve realized throughout my college courses how interested I am in both communications and business. Luckily, my internship at Apple Box allowed me to dive completely into both of those fields. I came to The Box this summer as the business development intern, though this position entailed more than I ever thought possible. My first few weeks included learning the different aspects of marketing as I assisted with lead generation, email-marketing, database research, networking, and providing marketing support for current projects. As the weeks continued, I started getting involved in the advertising side of things as I helped with company and client web development, client and company SEO, and assisted in creating content maps and scripts. After a month into my internship, I also had the awesome opportunity to provide on-site assistance at a commercial video shoot, where I learned so much about the behind the scenes of video production.

Summer internship: Madison helping with the Gamma Pickleball classic

Overall, out of my four previous internship experiences, my summer internship at Apple Box Studios has been the most rewarding by far. This agency treats its interns as if they are part of the team. Not only was I given my own desk, computer and phone, but I was also expected to produce high quality work that matched the caliber of those currently employed. The work environment is unlike any other, as it’s highly professional yet always has a fun, upbeat, and family-like feel. I made amazing memories through company bonding activities, including a boat day on the river and group lunches at local Pittsburgh restaurants.

Enjoying the boat day! Summer internships are tough ;)

Summer Internship: hanging out with the Social Media Manager

Through my many assignments and projects, I learned more at Apple Box in three months than I did in a year of classes. As I head back to school this fall, I will take with me a plethora of knowledge, memories, and a new family I gained at The Box. So if you’re looking for a worthwhile, fun, and kick butt internship with an awesome crew, you’re in the right place. Thank you Apple Box Studios for allowing me to enter my final year of college with a whole new skill set, confidence in my knowledge and abilities, and excitement for my future career!
